some suggestions to help you sell your boat...
A boat is a major investment for most buyers and should therefore
be presented as well as possible.
The points below have been drawn up to assist in selling your
boat and will make a decided contribution to a successful sale there will undoubtably
be many other questions a seller may want to ask, so please use our contact
us section. If you are still interested in selling your vessel you can contact
us through the link at the bottom of this page.
|
| 1.Price. It is vital to ask a realistic price which
will be governed by age, condition, equipment and the current market state. Look
around for other advertised boats of a similar specification and condition as
a price guide. We will advise you if necessary.
|
| 2.Presentation. A well turned out boat will create
a good impression and could sway a potential buyer from the similar vessel they
saw earlier that day. Remove all rusty tins, wet rags, frayed ropes, leaves, bilge
water, dirt and grime. A weekend spent in generally p resenting your boat will
not be wasted. Keep her tidy, even in winter, you never know when a potential
buyer may turn up.
|
| 3.Location. Your boat must be easily viewable, either
ashore, afloat or in a marina. If she is on an inaccessable mooring, a dinghy
should be available. Remember that a prospective client may turn up out of the
blue and such an opportunity should not be missed. Leave the keys with the boatyard
or marina or make arrangements where they can be easily obtainable.
|
|
4.Information. Supply us with as much information as possible,
including a good photograph (or GIF format computer image) and her history. Details
of last survey, work done, voyages completed and anything which will be of interest
to a prospective buyer, as he may be living a long way away and the initial information
he receives will affect his decision on making an appointment to view your boat.
If there are any known defects, be honest and price the boat realistically, these
may come to light in a survey.
